NPA hands over $38m and K6m to the state

Over 38 million US Dollars and six million Kwacha has been handed over to the state by the National Prosecution Authority -NPA- in the past one year following prosecutions in cases involving proceeds of crime.
National Prosecution Authority Deputy Chief State Advocate MARGARET CHITUNDU says the authority has also been able to recover and forfeit over 62 houses,three ranches and over 100 vehicles.
Ms. CHITUNDU says this is besides what other law enforcement agencies are doing, such as the Anti Corruption Commission.
In an interview with ZNBC News, Ms CHITUNDU said the money and properties forfeited to the state are deemed to be proceeds of crime.
She said some of the assets forfeited to the state also include properties of the former first family.
