The Natural Resources Development College -NRDC- has signed a Memorandum of Understanding -MOU- with India Zambia Business Council -IZBC- to develop a model farmland at its premises.
Agriculture Minister REUBEN MTOLO says the cooperation has materialised at a crucial time when the country needs well grounded experts in agriculture to help in dealing with the negative effects of climate change.
And India’s High Commissioner to Zambia ASHOK KUMAR said through the partnership, students from NRDC will be sponsored to travel to India to learn about farming.
Mr. KUMAR further disclosed that Zambia is in two months time expected to receive maize from India as a response to the drought situation in Zambia.
Speaking at the same event, NRDC Principal MELON MULAMFU said the partnership has come at a time when the college needs expertise.
And IZBC President AYYUB NAGARSETH said the MoU will play a role in boosting Zambia’s food security.
