NSCZ, FIFA clash over FAZ Leadership
By Mike Mwendachabe
The National Sports Council of Zambia -NSCZ- has issued a stern warning to the Football Association of Zambia -FAZ-, demanding that they acknowledge the expiration of the Executive Committee’s term, led by ANDREW KAMANGA, on February 28, 2025.
In a letter dated March 14, 2025, NSCZ- Chief executive officer SOMBWA MUSUNSA expressed concern over KAMANGA’s continued claims of being the -FAZ- President, despite his mandate having ended.
He further said any decisions made by the former Executive Committee members would be considered illegal and in defiance of their own constitution.
MUSUNSA warned that any attempts to disregard the Sports Council Act and Associations’ Constitutions may result in suspension from all forms of sports, including football.
BUT FIFA has directed the -FAZ- Executive Committee to continue executing its mandate until the elective Annual General Meeting -AGM- on March 29, 2025, in Livingstone.
In a letter to FAZ General Secretary REUBEN KAMANGA, FIFA’s Chief Member Associations Officer ELKHAN MAMMADOV emphasised that the FAZ Executive Committee must fulfill its statutory roles and obligations without interference from third parties.
