By Mark Ziligone
Zambia has received its first fuel vessel of diesel under the #TAZAMA pipeline Open Access Policy.
Energy Permanent Secretary PETER MUMBA has confirmed that the vessel which carries approximately 95,000 tonnes of diesel has begun offloading at a port in Dar-es-Salaam, #Tanzania.
Mr. MUMBA was speaking when he witnessed the offloading of the first fuel vessel of diesel under the Government’s Open Access Policy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
He said the first consignment, delivered under Lot 1 of the Open Access Framework, is a demonstration of the success of government’s policy.
Mr. MUMBA explained that government’s broader goal is to reduce Zambia’s vulnerability to global fuel supply disruptions and to make fuel prices more competitive.
And TAZAMA Pipeline Managing Director DAVISON THAWETHE commended the Tanzania Ports Authority for their ongoing support in providing the necessary slots for Zambian shipments to offload fuel.
Meanwhile Titanium Oil Corporation Managing Director BERTHA KALONGELWA thanked Government for creating a competitive environment in the petroleum industry.
