Opposition suffers defections in Kawambwa

Scores of people from the Patriotic Front and other opposition political parties have defected to the ruling UPND in Kawambwa District of Luapula Province.
Kawambwa UPND Campaign Manager, Ivo Mpasa, says the new additions to the party indicate growing support for the UPND in the district.
Meanwhile, UPND National Chairman Collins Maoma has stated that President Hakainde Hichilema is committed to fostering development in Luapula Province, particularly in areas like Kawambwa.
Speaking during a rally at Munkata Primary School in Kawambwa Ward, Mr. Maoma said the Republican President is determined to deliver development to all parts of the country, even in regions where the ruling party received limited support during the 2021 general elections.
Earlier, UPND National Chairperson for Elections, Garry Nkombo, urged the people of Kawambwa to choose wisely between the “good” and “bad” sides on polling day.
National Management Committee Member Elvis Nkandu and Chingola Member of Parliament Chipoka Mulenga criticized the former regime for failing to complete the construction of Kawambwa District Hospital.
Meanwhile, Socialist Party Deputy General Secretary for Administration, Maximo Sikonde, described his party as the best alternative for fostering development in the area.
