Over ten million cattle vaccines coming
(NAIS) Over 10 million doses of vaccines for the Newcastle Disease and more than three million for Foot and Mouth Disease will be produced at the Central Veterinary Research Institute.
This follows the establishment of the state of the art vaccine production laboratory at the institute.
Central Veterinary Research Institute Principal Research Scientist ALIKHADIO MASEKO says the plant will also produce a million doses of various vaccines of different livestock diseases such as Anthrax and Contagious bovine pleura-pneumonia -CBPP.
Dr MASEKO told NAIS that the construction of the laboratory once complete will assist in eradicating livestock diseases in the country.
Meanwhile, Fisheries and Livestock Minister PETER KAPALA said government is partnering with the private sector to set up veterinary laboratories in all the districts across the country.
Mr. KAPALA explained that government wants to ensure that farmers have access to vaccines close to their homes for increased livestock productivity.
