PF and FDD members defect to UPND

Some Opposition Patriotic Front and Forum for Democracy and Development-FDD- members in Shibuyunji District have defected to the ruling UPND.

The Opposition members from 12 Wards of Mwembeshi Constituency, defected at a UPND Mobilization rally in Shibuyunji district this afternoon.

UPND Shibuyunji District Chairman, AFTERSON SHAPOWE received the defectors.

And, Mwembeshi Constituency Information Publicity Secretary, MIKE LUPUTIA said the government’s initiatives, such as the cash for work programme, have been instrumental in attracting the defectors.

Mr. LUPUTIA says the programme has helped to alleviate hunger, making it an attractive option for those seeking to improve their livelihoods.

He added that the Constituency Development Fund-CDF has been well utilized, enabling the people to see tangible development in the area.

But, Opposition Forum for Democracy and Development -FDD- Vice President CHIFUMU BANDA said that none of their members has defected to the UPND.
