
Police Nab Armed Robber who stole K200,000 in Siavonga
A suspect has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery, which took place at a waste management company in Siavonga district on February 18, 2025.
During the robbery at XL Waste Management, 5 criminals, armed with AK-47 rifles stole more than 200,000 kwacha cash, from the Chinese owners of the company.
One of the criminals, who also took away mobile phones from 5 Chinese nationals and 5 Zambian workers at the company, was reportedly wearing a Zambia Police combat uniform.
In the latest update, Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, Auxensio Daka has identified the suspect as Brian Hamukali , aged 35, who was apprehended last Friday, March 21, around 17 hours.
Mr Daka says Hamukali was seen on a bus, traveling from Lusaka to Siavonga, and acting on this, police intercepted him at the Chirundu-Siavonga road junction.
He has explained that the suspect admitted his involvement in the robbery and further revealed that he worked together with a Osward Mulenga , a former employee at XL Waste Management Company, and 2 other unidentified individuals.
Mr Daka says Hamukali has further disclosed that he received 5,000 Kwacha for his role in the robbery.
He has added that investigations into the matter continue as police also serach for Mulenga and other accomplices.
