Police warn against disruptions during ECL case judgment
By Paul Shalala
The Zambia Police Service has advised the public to avoid flocking to the Constitutional Court premises when the judgment in former President EDGAR LUNGU’s eligibility case will be read on Tuesday next week.
Inspector General of Police GRAPHEL MUSAMBA says his office has received credible intelligence that certain individuals are planning to cause disturbances during the court proceedings.
Mr. MUSAMBA has warned that any acts intended to disrupt public peace and order will not be tolerated and those found engaging in such activities will be dealt with to the full extent of the law.
He has told ZNBC News in a statement that the Zambia Police Service is fully prepared to ensure that law and order is maintained across the country.
Mr. MUSAMBA has appealed to all peace-loving citizens to go about their daily activities responsibly on that day and to follow the court proceedings from the comfort of their homes or other appropriate locations.
He said the country must respect the judicial process and contribute to maintaining peace and unity in the nation.
