Political Parties pledge peaceful campaigns in Lukanga ward by-election
By Wilson Mulinda
Political parties taking part in the Lukanga Ward By-election in Kabwe District have pledged to conduct peaceful and violence-free campaigns.
Citizens First National Deputy Election Chairperson RICHARD MUSA says differences in political opinions should not hinder the love shared by people of one community.
Mr. MUSA says the electorate will decide their preferred candidate on poll day and must be allowed to do so without intimidation.
He was speaking during an engagement meeting of political parties and the Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ.
Meanwhile, UPND’s ACKIM PHIRI says politics of violence are long gone and parties must compete on ideas.
Socialist Party Member of the Central Committee FRED CHANDA has urged the ECZ to continue with the engagements to promote unity and knowledge.
And ECZ Manager for Voter Education EMMA MWIINGA says the commission values submissions and recommendations from stakeholders to maintain the delivery of credible, free and fair elections.
