President HICHILEMA dates Japan

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA today departs for Japan for an official working visit at the invitation of Japan’s Prime Minister SHIGERU ISHIBA.
State House Chief Communications Specialist CLAYSON HAMASAKA says President HICHILEMAs visit is expected to further strengthen economic cooperation and unlock new avenues for mutual growth and development.
Mr. HAMASAKA says President HICHILEMA, who is Zambia’s Chief Marketing Officer and in line with the principles of Economic Diplomacy will also leverage this visit to explore enhanced trade and investment opportunities, particularly in mining, energy, agriculture, and water harvesting.
He says Zambia and Japan share a long-standing diplomatic relationship spanning 60 years, established in 1964 shortly after Zambia’s independence.
Mr. HAMASAKA says over the years, this partnership has been strengthened through high-level engagements and mutual cooperation across various sectors.
In a statement released to ZNBC News, Mr. HAMASAKA stressed that the two nations maintain strong political ties, with frequent visits by senior officials underscoring the depth of their relationship.
He said President HICHILEMA’s visit serves as a reaffirmation of these close ties and a commitment to furthering bilateral cooperation.
Mr. HAMASAKA also noted that Japan, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency –JICA, has played a pivotal role in Zambia’s development, supporting key sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, and human resource development.
He said additionally, Japan has provided substantial aid to Zambia’s health sector, particularly in combating HIV and AIDS, malaria, and other diseases.
