President HICHILEMA heads to Tanzania for Summit

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA is tomorrow expected to attend the joint summit of Southern African Development Community –SADC- and East African Community- EAC- Heads of State and Government which will take place in Dar-es-Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania.
The Summit will be co-chaired by Zimbabwean President EMMERSON MNANGAGWA, in his capacity as Chair of SADC, and Kenyan President WILLIAM RUTO in his capacity as Chair of the EAC.
Acting Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister JACK MWIIMBU says the summit will focus on finding common ground towards resolving the security situation in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo -DRC.
Mr. MWIIMBU says the summit is being held as a follow up to the outcome of the Extraordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government, which was held in Zimbabwe on January 31, 2025, and the 24th Extraordinary Summit of the East African Community Heads of State, held on January 29, 2025.
He says President HICHILEMA remains firmly committed to collaborating with other leaders to foster peace, security, and stability in the Eastern DRC.
The President is expected to return to Zambia immediately after the conclusion of the Summit.
This is according to a statement made available to ZNBC News in TANZANIA.
And the joint SADC and EAC Ministerial Summit is under way which will; deliberate on conflict situation in DRC involving the M23 rebels and the DRC government.
The outcome of the Ministerial meeting will be fed into Heads of State summit which will take place tomorrow.
Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA is leading the Ministerial delegation at the Summit and other senior government officials.
