By Joy Nyambe
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Zambia is on course to solving its electricity challenges.
President HICHILEMA says this is why government is working hard to reduce dependence on hydropower by investing in solar.
He says drought may be a problem on one hand but an opportunity on the other to move resources into investments such as electricity.
President HICHILEMA was speaking to journalists today at Zambia Air Force base at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport before departure for Tanzania, where he is expected to attend the 300 Africa Energy Summit scheduled for January 28,2025 in Dar -es-Salaam.
He said the summit is a process towards delivering electricity for 300 million Africans, Zambia inclusive.
President HICHILEMA said the African continent must have a master plan to accelerate investment in electricity delivery.
He added that the Energy summit is connected to Zambia’s agenda to have food security and reduce the disease burden.
On the sidelines of the Summit, President HICHILEMA is expected to hold bilateral meetings with other leaders to discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest.
President HICHILEMA will return to Zambia immediately after the conclusion of the Summit.
