By Wilson Mulinda
Government says there is no illegality in the procurement process of the 156 basic life support ambulances, as well as the awarding of the tender to supply.
Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary NICHOLAS PHIRI says government followed the procurement process.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. PHIRI said government went for limited bidding after the open bidding criteria failed, which is in line with the Zambia Public Procurement Authority- ZPPA- Act and regulations.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Donor Coordination GEORGE SINYANGWE dismissed reports that donors have withdrawn from supporting the health sector.
And Information and Media Permanent Secretary THABO KAWANA said the country will see more tenders for supply of goods and services being awarded to citizen bidders, as long as they meet the requirements.
