
Progress Made, But Challenges Remain – MAZOKA

Zambia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom MACENJE MAZOKA says Zambia has made significant strides in empowering women leaders across sectors.
Ms. MAZOKA however says while progress is evident, challenges still persist among women.
She says among the challenges is the under-representation of women in political leadership, structural barriers like patriarchal norms, limited access to resources and political violence that hinder women’s advancement, and keeping girls in school.
Ms. MAZOKA said this during the 2025 Global Power Women Awards in London where she highlighted the works of First Lady MUTINTA #HICHILEMA, which have served the marginalised among others.
She said that when women thrive, communities prosper and nations grow stronger.
Ms. MAZOKA also challenged the women to embrace the #Ubuntu philosophy, which calls on them to lead with authenticity, guided by a deep sense of responsibility.
Among those awarded during the ceremony is Mrs. ANN MARIE DAVIS Spouse of the Prime Minister of Bahamas, First Lady of Gambia FATOUMATTA BAH BARROW, and First Lady of Cote d’Ivoire DOMINIQUE OUATTARA.
