Protect your WhatsApp, ZICTA warns users

The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority –ZICTA- has urged all WhatsApp users in the country to take immediate action to secure their accounts and protect themselves from online threats.

This is in view of rising cases of WhatsApp account hacks in Zambia.

Authority Manager Corporate Communications HANFORD CHAABA has emphasised the importance of heightened vigilance and responsible digital behaviour in reducing the risks of such incidents.

He has further advised WhatsApp users to enable two-step verification, in addition to their password, when registering their phone numbers with WhatsApp on a new device to prevent such incidents.

Mr. CHAABA has also cautioned against clicking on unknown or suspicious links and joining WhatsApp groups without proper verification.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC news in Lusaka.
