“Renewed interest in mining due to investment climate”
By Sharon Siame
The Chamber of Mines says renewed interest and investments in the mining sector are an indication that the investment policy climate in the country is now conducive.
Chamber of Mines President GODWIN BEENE says investors are responding positively because the investment climate and the fiscal policies are right.
Dr BEENE was reacting to the announcement by President HICHILEMA yesterday that Anglo American Corporation had renewed interest to invest in the country after close to 20 years of exiting the sector.
Speaking in a telephone interview with ZNBC news, Dr. BEENE expressed confidence that more investors will come back to Zambia.
He also noted that the indication by China Nonferrous Metals Corporation to further invest close to 1.5 billion United States Dollars is a great move which will help the country attain the target of three million metric tons of copper production annually.
