“Reopen Tchinsenda border post

Some residents of Milyashi area of Chililabombwe District on the Copperbelt have called for the re-opening of TCHINSENDA border post to improve the economy of the area.
The TCHINSENDA border post has been closed for over 25 years.
The residents says Milyashi is a farming area with a huge potential to contribute to the economy of Zambia.
Chililabombwe District Agriculture Coordinator SAMSON CHIPETA says the large volumes of agricultural produce is suspected to smuggled into the Democratic Republic of Congo through TCHINSENDA border post.
Mr CHIPETA has told ZNBC that government is losing revenue through smuggling via the TCHINSENDA border post.
He says the re-opening of the border post will formalise trade and protect the country from revenue losses through smuggling.
And Chililabombwe Municipal Council Town Planner CHIBWE CHIBWE says progress has been made towards planning for the re-opening of the border post.
