“Report army worm infestations”
By Caren Mwaka
The government has encouraged farmers to report infestations of Fall Army Worms for rapid intervention to suppress pest populations, protect crops, and mitigate further damage.
Agriculture Minister Reuben Mtolo has further urged farmers to utilize the 55,000 liters of low-risk Fall Army Worm chemicals that were delivered to all provinces.
Mr. Mtolo says the chemicals were deliberately positioned to ensure the nation’s food security is protected and to enhance the livelihoods of farmers.
The Minister has attributed the increase in Fall Army Worm infestation to the prolonged dry spells the country experienced in the 2023-2024 farming season.
He has assured his ministry’s unwavering commitment to mitigating the threat and called upon every farmer and stakeholder to contribute to the national effort of ensuring food security.
