By Ruth Chayinda
Ten suspects have so far been apprehended in connection with the recent theft of more than 900,000 Kwacha from a retired banker in Choma.
In December, a 53-year-old retired banker from Choma District had more than 900,000 Kwacha withdrawn from her bank account after unknown individuals replaced her phone number and accessed her two bank accounts.
Zambia Information, Communication and Technology Authority (ZICTA) Acting Director General, Collins Mbulo, says investigations are still ongoing.
Mr. Mbulo said this during a meeting held with Information Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana, at his office.
He said the Authority is committed to protecting consumers against scammers and has since called on consumers to take necessary caution.
Mr. Kawana has asked the Authority to improve its operations and protect consumers against scammers.
