
Rotary Club launches health worker training project

The Rotary Club in Zambia has embarked on a 3-year Community Health Workers training project at a cost of 140 Million United States dollars in a bid to increase access to health services.
District Governor TOM KAMWENDO says during the 3-year programme, 2,000 Health workers will be trained in Northern and central provinces.
Mr. KAMWENDO says the project is focused in the areas of Malaria early detection, respiratory diseases and diarrhoea in children and adults.
Speaking during a luncheon in LUSAKA on Wednesday, Mr KAMWENDO said the project is designed to provide health care in areas where facilities are not near the communities.
And Information and Media Permanent Secretary THABO KAWANA praised the Rotary Club for supplementary efforts aimed at improving the lives of the vulnerable communities.
He said through support in various sectors, Rotarians have complimented Government effort in ensuring that the welfare of all citizens is improved.
Meanwhile, Rotary Club of Lusaka Midtown President, NASITWITWI CHISENGA said the club remains committed to supporting communities in various sectors.
And Past District Governor, RAVI DEVALIA called for an increased dissemination of information on the achievements of the rotary club.
