Samuel Maimbo Endorsed by SADC and COMESA for AfDB Presidency

ZANIS- Zambia’s African Development Bank (AfDB) aspiring presidential candidate, Samuel Maimbo, has officially been endorsed by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), positioning him as the frontrunner in the AfDB presidential race.

The two regional bodies reaffirmed their position during a press briefing held at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The press briefing was attended by President Hakainde Hichilema, alongside Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is SADC Chairperson, and Burundi’s President Évariste Ndayishimiye, current Chairperson of COMESA.

The regional blocs expressed confidence in the capabilities, experience, and competence Dr. Maimbo has in steering the African financial institution to respond to modern challenges.
