“Set an ambitious $1bn minimum per year beef export target”
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has directed the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and other relevant ministries to set an ambitious One billion United States dollar minimum per year beef export target.
President HICHILEMA says the livestock sector offers a significant opportunity to diversify the economy, reducing dependence on mineral resources and driving growth.
The President said this after a Presidential Stocktake from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, which highlighted the work done so far to realise Zambia’s vast potential as a net beef exporter to the region and globally.
President HICHILEMA noted that five pilot Animal Disease Free Compartments have since been identified in Chikankata, Chipata, Chisamba, Mumbwa, and Namwala with others to follow.
He said the vision remains clear, to grow the economy through key sectors like livestock, creating jobs and business opportunities for our people.
