By Prince Chiyuni
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has called on scientists and technocrats to simplify issues surrounding Carbon credit for ordinary Zambians.
President HICHILEMA says the rural communities who are the custodians of nature, should be engaged for them to understand and appreciate projects aimed at reducing Carbon emission and preserving nature.
He says there is need for a holistic approach to make communities understand the effects of bush fires and other practices that have a negative effect on the environment.
President HICHILEMA was speaking at State House when he met a delegation from Community Climate Solutions.
And Green Economy and Environment Minister, MIKE MPOSHA expressed happiness that Community Climate Solutions Project is aimed at benefitting farmers and local communities.
Meanwhile, Community Climate Solutions Board Chairperson ROBIN MILLER said the organisation is committed to ensuring that Carbon credit funding goes direct to the farmers.
And Community Climate Solutions Chief Executive Officer, JAMES MWANZA said the project is currently running in eight provinces, adding that discussions are underway with traditional leaders in Western and North Western provinces to cater for all the ten regions.
