SONDASHI HIV Treatment Offers New Hope

The African Union Development Agency- New Partnerships for Africa’s Development -AU-NEPAD -says the #Sondashi formula, a potential breakthrough in HIV and AIDS treatment, needs to be scaled up and recognised as an African innovation.

Speaking during a courtesy call on Vice President, MUTALE #NALUMANGO in Lusaka today, AU-NEPAD Chief Executive Officer NARDOS BEKELE-THOMAS stressed the importance of the #Sondashi formula, particularly with the impending closure of US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief -PEPFAR.

She said there is need for increased awareness and support for the formula, which is at an advanced stage of trials and is already gaining attention for its promising results.

The Sondashi formula is proving to be a solution for Africa, offering new hope in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Ms. BEKELE-THOMAS also urged the Zambian government to advocate for AUDA-NEPAD and encourage member states to voluntarily support UN agencies, in their efforts to address the HIV and AIDS pandemic.

And in responding to Ms. BEKELE-THOMAS, the Vice President expressed Zambia’s enthusiasm for manufacturing, particularly in the medical field.

Mrs. NALUMANGO noted that the Sondashi formula has progressed to advanced trial stages and emphasised Zambia’s passion for developing its own solutions.

The Sondashi formula’s progress has garnered significant interest, and its potential as a locally developed solution for HIV and AIDS treatment in Africa is seen as a major breakthrough.

AUDA-NEPAD’s efforts to promote its development and recognition are crucial in advancing Africa’s health agenda.
