Former President Edgar Lungu’s daughter, Tasila Lungu, has failed to secure an injunction on the forfeiture of her Sinda farm, which has been deemed to be proceeds of crime.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Court has ruled that Tasila has not proved special circumstances to be granted a stay of execution of the order for the forfeiture of her Sinda farm pending the determination of the appeal in the Court of Appeal.
The court has also ruled that Tasila’s appeal has no prospects of success.
The ruling was made by Economic and Financial Crimes Court Judge Vincent Siloka on behalf of Judges Suzen Wenjelani and Pixxie Yangailo.
The delivery of the ruling comes after Tasila’s application for a stay of execution of the seizure of her Sinda farm, deemed to be proceeds of crime, pending the determination of the appeal in the Court of Appeal.
Tasila filed the application following the Economic and Financial Crimes Court’s order for the forfeiture of her Sinda farm on September 17, 2024.
The court had ruled that Tasila’s income between June 2015 and August 2021 was 154,200 kwacha, against the over 8,849,000 kwacha value of the farm
