Taxi Driver, Passengers robbed on Esther Lungu Road
A 23-year-old Online Taxi Driver has been attacked by a Group of eight suspected criminals in Lusaka’s Kamwala South area.
The driver was attacked around 01:00 hours as he was dropping off his three clients along Easter Lungu road.
Police Deputy Police Public Relations Officer DANNY MWALE says investigations indicate that the suspects, armed with machetes, appeared from the Railway line opposite Kuku compound.
Mr MWALE says the driver and one of the passengers, aged 31, were hacked with machetes before robbing them of their money and cellular phones.
He told ZNBC News in a statement that the driver sustained a deep cut on the face while the passenger sustained cuts on the right leg, hands and bruises on the body.
Mr MWALE said that the other two passengers managed to escape unhurt while their phones had been stolen.
And Mr MWALE said Police officers quickly rushed the victims to the Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
Their condition is said to be stable and that the money and value of their cellular phones stolen is yet to be established as investigations have intensified.
