
Tayali Pushes for 16th Protocol to Revitalize Tanzania-Zambia Railway

Transport and Logistics Minister, Frank Tayali, has called for the finalization of the 16th protocol to facilitate technical cooperation for the revitalization of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA).
Speaking during a meeting with Chinese Embassy Economic Counsellor, Mr. Jin Jun, Mr. Tayali commended the progress made by the governments of Tanzania and Zambia in their efforts to revitalize TAZARA. He emphasized the importance of signing the 16th protocol between the governments of Zambia and the People’s Republic of China.
Transport and Logistics Permanent Secretary, Fredrick Mwalusaka, highlighted that TAZARA has been operating under the 15th protocol, underscoring the necessity for the government to proceed with the 16th protocol.
Meanwhile, Counsellor Jin Jun indicated that the Chinese government is keen to receive feedback on the 16th technical cooperation. He affirmed that the agreements are open to renegotiation and expressed satisfaction with the feedback provided by the People’s Republic of Tanzania last year.
