The Teaching Council of Zambia -TCZ- has developed an innovative digital platform aimed at improving teacher registration, licensing, and professional development.
Known as the Teacher Management Information System -TMIS-, the platform is designed to enhance the management of teacher data and streamline recruitment processes in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Teaching Service Commission -TSC.
TCZ Registrar, EBBY MUBANGA, unveiled the system at the 69th Comparative International Education Society Conference, held in Chicago, USA.
Dr. MUBANGA said accurate teacher data is key to making informed decisions at policy and institutional levels.
He added that the platform will improve teacher education, professional development, and overall service delivery.
Dr. MUBANGA said the platform’s integrated features on Continuing Professional Development have attracted international interest, with several African and European countries eager to learn from Zambia’s model.
Meanwhile, Zambia has been selected to host a regional workshop in June this year on Continuing Professional Development.
Dr. MUBANGA said the five-day event will draw participants from seven countries, including Lesotho, Malawi, South Sudan, and Zanzibar.
He further said the TMIS platform and Zambia’s participation in global education for a will help benchmark the country’s education standards and promote regional collaboration.
This is according to a statement released to ZNBC news by Dr. MUBANGA.
