Ten arrested in connection with theft of Railway Sleepers

Police on the Copperbelt have arrested ten suspects, among them a Chinese national and an employee of Zambia Railways, in connection with the theft of 72 Railway Sleepers.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner PEACEWELL MWEEMBA says the sleepers are valued at K129, 600.
Mr. MWEEMBA says officers from the anti robbery team received information that GOOD TIME STEEL situated in Kasumbalesa was in possession of the same vandalised sleepers.
He says the officers who rushed to Good Time Steel Kasumbalesa office found the said sleepers.
Mr. MWEEMBA says the railway sleepers have been kept at Chililabombwe police station as part of exhibits and that Good Time Steel employees have been detained to help police with investigations.
In a statement to ZNBC news, the Copperbelt police chief said the railway sleepers were vandalised in magazine area between Kilometer 25 and Kilometer 26.
