“There is no law which says when the constitution can be amended”
Constitutional Lawyer MALISA BATAKATHI says there is no need to politicise the proposed constitution amendment process as it is the people’s document.
Mr. BATAKATHI says the constitution amendment process should be separated from politics, so that it can meet the aspirations of the Zambian people.
And Mr. BATAKATHI says there is no law which says when the constitution can be amended but that the process requires consensus because it is the people’s document.
Speaking in an interview with ZNBC’s RUTH CHAYINDA, Mr BATAKATHI said Government should avail the proposed clauses for amendment, and the road map, so that the public can understand what amendments are being proposed.
He said there is need to build consensus across the board from every Zambian regardless of political affiliation, so that the process can be a success.
