By Ruth Chayinda
Topstar Zambia has declared and handed over 3 million Kwacha dividend to the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation- ZNBC.
Star Times Chairman XINXING PANG says the declaration of dividends is a translation of the company’s daily operations and performance which have over time improved.
He however says that the company faced some challenges due to the drought but expressed optimism Topstar will continue to meet the expectations of its consumers by providing rich and clear content at an affordable price.
Mr. XINXING said this during a meeting that was held with Information Minister CORNELIUS MWEETWA and ZNBC board and management led by board chairperson JOSEPH KAZHILA.
And Mr. XINXING said Star Times remains committed to completing the digital migration program which he said is a flagship project between Zambia and China in the broadcasting sector.
And Mr. MWEETWA said Government is committed to actualising the digital migration program as 10 percent of the works have remained to be completed to its fullest.
He also expressed concern on the installation of equipment to some provincial studios which are currently stored in a warehouse in Beijing and Lusaka.
Mr. MWEETWA said the delay in installing the equipment may lead to it being obsolete.
He has also commended Topstar Zambia for making profits after 7 years saying this shows progress.
The Minister also called on Star Times to consider investing in Zambia’s energy sector which has currently been affected with the drought.
