Traditionals leaders across Africa meet in Livingstone
By Justine Akakulubelwa
House of Chiefs Chairperson, Chief NKAMBO, has called on traditional leaders in Africa to unite and help fight against climate change and hunger in their respective countries.
Speaking at the Forum for African Traditional Authority – FATA meeting in Livingstone, Chief NKAMBO says it is only by working together that traditional leaders can positively contribute to Africa’s development.
He has also urged traditional leaders to prioritise needs of vulnerable groups such as women, children and youths in their respective chiefdoms and Kingdoms.
The FATA Extraordinary meeting being held in Livingstone has attracted Kings and Queens, Chiefs, a Sultan and Prince from fifteen African countries.
And FATA President, King DRANI from Uganda says there is a need for leaders in Africa to be forward looking and empower women if the continent is to develop.
King DRANI says Africa’s challenge over the years has been poor leadership that excluded women in the development agenda.
Meanwhile, convener of the meeting, Overland Missions President PHILIP SMETHURST, has encouraged traditional leaders to help champion development in their respective areas.
Dr. SMETHURST says Overland Missions will always support traditional leaders in their efforts to develop the continent just as missionaries such as David Livingstone did.
The 2024 FATA Extraordinary Meeting is among others aimed at discussing the FATA Constitution and collaborations.
