Trial Adjourned in Emmanuel Jay Banda Escape Case
By Christopher Miti
The Chipata Magistrates Court has adjourned the case in which five officers and the wife of former Petauke Central Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Jay Banda, are jointly charged with one count of aiding his escape.
Deputy Chief State Advocate Richard Masemphela applied for an adjournment.
Mr. Masemphela said the state was only remaining with two state witnesses to conclude its case.
He said the sixth witness was out of Eastern Province.
Chipata Principal Resident Magistrate Boniface Mwala granted the application and adjourned the matter to April 1st and 2nd, 2025, for continued trial.
