UN Expert Clarifies Zambia’s Status with Human Rights Council

An international United Nations expert on international law and human rights has clarified that Zambia has not been blacklisted by the Human Rights Council.
Professor Chaloka Beyani explained that the Council does not have the mandate to blacklist countries.
Professor Beyani further clarified that Zambia served as a member of the Council alongside other countries and is currently not eligible for immediate re-election after completing two consecutive terms.
In a statement issued to ZNBC News, Professor Beyani emphasized that Zambia has not stood for re-election to the Human Rights Council, having completed its term.
