By Ruth Chayinda
Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE says the visit to Zambia by UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression IRENE KHAN will showcase the country’s democratic achievements scored so far.
Mr. HAIMBE says there is no need for citizens to misunderstand her visit, as it is intended for the assessment of the country’s democratic tenets.
He said this when he appeared on a special interview on ZNBC TV.
Mr. HAIMBE also stressed that Ms. KHAN has no limitations on who she meets during her endeavour to assess whether the fundamental freedoms are being observed in the country.
He further said her visit will benefit the Zambian people and the country’s standing in the international community.
