Union Concerned with Mine Workers colluding with Thieves
The National Union of Miners and Allied Workers (NUMAW) is concerned with reports of some mine employees colluding with outsiders to steal from their employers.
NUMAW President SAUL SIMUJIKA has described the act as unacceptable and warned that it threatens investments in the extractive Industry.
In an interview with ZNBC News, Mr. SIMUJIKA called on mine managements to tighten security, controls and discipline those found wanting.
He said the union will not tolerate or condone such behavior.
Mr. SIMUJIKA cited the ongoing investigations at Mimbula Mineral Resources in Chingola where individuals were caught loading copper from the mine into a truck which was later abandoned.
