
UNIP Commemorates Kenneth Kaunda Day, Honoring Zambia’s Founding Father

The United National Independence Party (UNIP) held a solemn commemoration of Kenneth Kaunda Day at Freedom House, the party’s national headquarters in Lusaka.
April 28th, the birthday of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, is a day dedicated to celebrating Zambia’s founding father and reflecting on his enduring legacy of peace, unity, and leadership.
Speaking at the event, UNIP President Henry Muyoba described Dr. Kaunda as a timeless symbol of national unity and African pride.
He emphasized that Dr. Kaunda’s principles of humanism, equality, and nonviolence remain crucial for Zambia’s future.
Meanwhile, UNIP National Chairman Captain Robert Mukengami praised President Hakainde Hichilema for following in Dr. Kaunda’s footsteps by promoting peace and unity in the country.
Captain Mukengami noted that Dr. Kaunda loved all people, regardless of their background, and focused on bringing development to the nation.
Additionally, Former UNIP Secretary for Women Affairs and First Gender Minister Patricia Mulasikwanda acknowledged Dr. Kaunda’s achievements, including making education free for all.
Ms. Mulasikwanda highlighted that Dr. Kaunda loved all people, including women, children, and youths, and created opportunities for everyone.
