
UNZASU Backs Calls for Constitutional Amendments

University of Zambia Student Union-UNZASU- Vice President KELVIN NGANDU says there is nothing sinister about amending the constitution.
Mr NGANDU says amendments can be made to the constitution if and when there is need to do so.
He has praised President HICHILEMA for calling for the need to include the youth and women in decision-making positions.
Mr NGANDU has also urged government to ensure that the draft bill of the proposed amendments of the consitution are made public soon to enable stakeholders have their input.
Mr NGANDU was speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today.
Meanwhile, UNZASU President DIXON MUTAMBO said the youth want to participate in national matters and the draft Bill should recognise their right to do so.
AND Levy Mwanawasa Medical University Student Union – LEMMUSU- Vice President GERALD HAMWANJA said youths make up 70- percent of the population hence the need to be included in national matters.
And UNZASU Secretary General TITUS CHISHA called on Civil Society Organisations and other Stakeholders to ensure they play their role in the constitution amendment process to ensure the document represents their views.
