“Upholding peace,unity key priority”
Vice President, MUTALE NALUMANGO says upholding peace and unity in the country is a key priority of the government.
Mrs NALUMANGO explains that the peace the country enjoys today is because of the struggles and sacrifices forefathers made during the independence struggle hence the need to guard it jealously.
The Vice President said this in a speech read on her behalf by Defence Minister, AMBROSE LUFUMA, in Ikelenge District of North-Western Province during the hoisting of the national flag.
She noted that the event symbolises the country’s freedom and democracy.
Mrs NALUMANGO further urged Zambians to fly the flag high as it is a symbol of the country’s identity.
And North-Western Province Minister, ROBERT LIHEFU said the Zambezi River source is a significant national heritage as it played a key role in the country’s Independence.
Mr LIHEFU has since stressed the need to invest in the site in order for it to attract more tourists.
Meanwhile, Freedom fighter, WILLIAM KAMWANA, said Independence Day is an important day in the history of the country as forefathers tirelessly fought for the country’s freedom.
