VEEP counsels youth
By Wilson Mulinda
Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO has challenged the youth to take full control of their future and make decisions that will guarantee a positive outlook for themselves.
Mrs. NALUMANGO says the youth should learn from the examples set by successful leaders and aspire to reach similar heights.
Speaking when she gave a keynote lecture at the University of Lusaka Silverest Campus, Mrs. NALUMANGO said it is also important for the youth to acquire knowledge on the history of the country as it commemorates 60 years of independence.
Mrs. NALUMANGO added that government has not neglected private institutions on bursaries, as it is looking at ways of incorporating them in the near future.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE said independence is a collective achievement, and the public lecture is designed to provide a space with diverse voices and perspectives.
Mr. HAIMBE, who was represented by Justice Minister PRINCESS KASUNE, said Zambia’s foreign policy has been anchored on principles which reflect the values of peace and solidarity with other countries.
And University of Lusaka UNILUS Vice Chancellor PINALO CHIFWANAKENI urged the youth to jealously guard the peace and unity enjoyed today because it came at a great cost to the forefathers.
