Voting underway in Ward By-elections
Voting in the Mubula Ward local, government by-elections in Choma is underway.
A check by a ZNBC news crew at several polling stations found voters casting their ballots.
At Overspill Polling Station, Presiding Officer JUNIOR NTEMBELWA said by 09:30 hours, 57 out of the 676 registered voters had already cast their votes.
Meanwhile, at Kanjanji Polling Station, Presiding Officer PETER MOWA disclosed that 142 out of the 799 registered voters cast their votes by 10:30 hours.
In Nakonde’s Luchinde and Mulalo Ward by election polls opened at 6 hours.
And Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- Vice Chairperson ALI SIMWINGA says the commission is pleased with the peaceful atmosphere at all polling stations.
Mr. SIMWINGA told ZNBC news that the voter turnout continues to increase and should accommodate all voters before closing of the polling stations.
And Speaking after casting her vote, BETTY MUTAMBO, a resident of Isansa village said she hopes that the next elected councillor addresses the lack of teachers at most schools in the area.
And IREEN NAKAMBA said the new Councillor once elected should urgently engage authorities to work on the bad state of the road.
