WFP to support 1m people affected by drought

The World Food Programme -WFP- targets to support about 1 million individuals by March 2025 through the emergency drought assistance in 23 drought affected districts.
WFP Country Director, BYENKYA KABASUUGA, says this support will be done through resources that have been received from different donors.
She was speaking during a field mission for the drought response food distribution in Siavonga District.
Ms. KABASUUGA said this mission is part of the 1- million dollars grant from the Korean Government, aimed at providing emergency food to over 2,000 individuals across three districts in Southern Province.
Meanwhile, Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- National Coordinator, GABRIEL POLLEN, reaffirmed Government’s commitment to providing immediate food assistance and early recovery efforts during this drought response.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Resettlement Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Vice President, MAVIS NKOMESHYA, Dr. POLLEN expressed confidence that the collaborative efforts would significantly mitigate the impact of drought.
And Korean Ambassador to Zambia, JAE PARK, reaffirmed his Government’s commitment to supporting Zambia’s efforts to alleviate human suffering and improve access to essential food assistance.
