The suspect has been identified as ANNIE SITALI, of Livingstone’s Maramba Compound.
Immigration Department Public Relations Officer NAMATI NSHIINKA says the incident unfolded on March 11, 2025, after information surfaced indicating that Ms. SITALI, working in collaboration with an unknown Zimbabwean woman, had handed over the children to JAMES SIMAUNDU, a 30-year-old taxi driver.
Mr. NSHIINKA says Mr. SIMAUNDU was incepted at the border while attempting to smuggle the children into Zambia.
He says both Ms. SITALI and Mr. SIMAUNDU are currently in detention as investigations continue into their roles in the smuggling case.
