
World Bank Grants Zambia $100m to Digitize National ID’s
Zambia has qualified to receive the 100 million United States Dollars grant from the World Bank for digital National Registration Identity.
Smart Zambia Institute National Coordinator, PERCY CHINYAMA says this follows the assessment that was conducted by the World Bank.
Mr. CHINYAMA disclosed this at the close of the Globa Digital Summit in Washington DC.
He has thanked the World Bank for the grant, adding that this is what the government of Zambia has envisioned in its quest to promote digital transformation.
Mr CHINYAMA said the focus now moves to the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship to build capacity and manage the digital ID.
He said the recognition of Zambia by the World Bank shows the kindness that the Bank has had on Zambia.
Mr. CHINYAMA also thanked the Government ministries for the efforts played in ensuring that Zambia is well accessed and recognized.
