World Bank to Aid Zambia in Water Harvesting
Agriculture Minister, Reuben Mtolo, says the government in collaboration with the World Bank will promote the utilization of harvested water in dams.
Speaking during the commissioning of Chikowa Dam in Mambwe District of Eastern Province, Mr. Mtolo said eight dams have been constructed and rehabilitated in Southern, Western, North-Western, Central, and Eastern provinces.
He said there is a need to move to the next step, which is the utilization of the harvested water to promote irrigation.
And speaking at the same event, World Bank Senior Agriculture Specialist Silvia Mauri said the World Bank is committed to continuing to supplement the Zambian Government’s efforts in supporting irrigation farming.
