Youth Caucus Vice Chair Criticizes MP for Embarrassing Youth Leadership
By White Luhanga
Zambian Parliamentary Caucus on Youths Vice Chairperson Twambo Mutinta has advised Mambilima Member of Parliament, Jean Chisenga, to stop embarrassing youth leadership.
Mr. Mutinta says the walking out of Parliament by Ms. Chisenga on claims that the UPND government has made “fake promises” during President Hakainde Hichilema’s address to Parliament is counterproductive to the aspirations of young leaders.
Mr. Mutinta says Ms. Chisenga’s actions not only embarrass youth leadership but also perpetuate the wrong narrative that young people cannot provide effective leadership.
He says it is time to put aside partisan views and acknowledge the good work being done.
Mr. Mutinta says the UPND government has achieved remarkable progress in the last three years, despite inheriting an economy that was on the brink of collapse due to debt.
He cited an increase in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation and free education, which he said had improved lives across the country.
Mr. Mutinta added that the UPND administration has also successfully negotiated debt relief, enabling the government to continue providing essential social services.
He says in 2024, Zambia faced its worst drought, and yet President Hichilema continued to provide steadfast leadership.
