ZAF plants thousands of hectares of maize in Mbala
Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Commander, Lieutenant General Oscar Nyoni, says the Air Force has planted thousands of hectares of maize in Mbala, Northern Province.
This follows the call by the President and Commander in Chief, President Hakainde Hichilema, for intensified food production.
General Nyoni says the Air Force is optimistic that the maize will add to the country’s food security.
He says President Hichilema has been clear that the Air Force must all join hands in securing food for all.
Following climate challenges, President Hichilema has been calling for year-round maize production, and the government is now ensuring that irrigation around water bodies is heightened for the purposes of food production.
