
ZAF to host the SADC Standing Committee 2025 Blue Exercise

The Zambia Air Force -ZAF- is set to host the Southern African Development Community- SADC- Standing Committee 2025 Blue Exercise, code named “Exercise Blue Lugwasho,” in September 2025.
The exercise aims to promote regional cooperation and enhance humanitarian assistance operations in the SADC region.
ZAF Commander, Lieutenant General OSCAR NYONI says regional cooperation is important in addressing humanitarian challenges, citing the devastating effects of climate change in the SADC region.
In a speech read on his behalf by Brigadier General LLOYD CHONYA during the official opening of the Initial Planning Conference for the 2025 Blue Exercise, General NYONI noted that the region has witnessed numerous natural disasters, including cyclones, floods, and droughts.
General NYONI further expressed gratitude to government for accepting to host the exercise.
And Chairperson of the Co-Planning Team, Brigadier General LEO TEMBO, explained that the exercise aims to train SADC national military aviation components to achieve greatness in humanitarian aid assistance operations.
