Zambia and the United Kingdom have signed five agreements

Zambia and the United Kingdom have signed five agreements.
The agreements are in areas of renewable energy, poverty reduction and capacity building in revenue and customs.
Others are on green growth compact and access to climate finance, including establishment of a climate finance unit.
Visiting United Kingdom Minister for International Development and Women Equalities, ANNELIESE DODDS signed on behalf of her Government, while Acting Foreign Affairs Minister, AMBROSE LUFUMA, Community Development Minister, DOREEN MWAMBA and ZRA Commissioner General, DINGANI BANDA, signed on behalf of Zambia.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA at State House.
And speaking earlier when he held a meeting with visiting the United Kingdom Minister for International Development, President HICHILEMA said Zambia and the United Kingdom share a long standing relationship.
President HICHILEMA said his Government stands ready to work closely with the UK Government in fighting climate change that has created energy and food insecurity in most parts of the country.
He emphasised the need for massive investment in renewable sources of energy.
And UK Minister for International Development and Women Equalities, Ms. DODDS, said her Government recognizes the various efforts and intervention the Zambian Government is putting in place to revive the economy.
Ms. DODDS further said her Government will work with Zambia to help build a sustainable and resilient economy.
